I am a dentist and I am planning to change my place of practice. Do I need to notify the ODQ?

Yes. Dentists who change their place of practice must publish a notice in a newspaper distributed in the vicinity of the dental office they are leaving, within 30 days of the change. They must also send a copy of this notice to the secretary of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec (ODQ).

We should point out that if a dentist fails to publish the notice, he or she will still be held responsible, even if the dentist and the owner of the dental office had agreed that the owner would take care of this task. In other words, do not delegate this responsibility to anyone else.
