If I no longer accept the assignment of benefits, can I continue to send claims electronically?

Yes. One does not prevent you from doing the other. This is how you should proceed with insurers who use Dentaide and the others:

Insurers using Dentaide

  1. The dentist (or a staff member) checks the "PAYMENT TO THE DENTIST" option in the management software and sends the claim electronically to the insurer.
  2. The insurer indicates the portion of the care covered by the plan in its reply.
  3. The patient pays the dentist for the portion of the care not covered by the plan.
  4. Dentaide deposits the payment directly in the dentist’s account or sends a cheque to him or her.

Others

  1. The dentist (or a staff member) checks the "PAYMENT TO THE PATIENT" option in the management software and sends the claim electronically to the insurer.
  2. The insurer indicates the portion of the care covered by the plan in its reply.
  3. The patient pays the dentist the full amount for the care received.
  4. The insurer reimburses the patient for the portion of the care covered by the plan in the days that follow.
