Can I use the e-mail address provided by patients on the form to communicate with them at all times?

As the Ordre des dentistes du Québec (ODQ) states, an e-mail may be used for communications related to the purpose of the file (e.g. to confirm an appointment or send an account statement), but you may not use this address to send commercial electronic messages (e.g. to remind patients to make their next appointment or to offer products or services). In these cases, prior express consent will be necessary, but should be the subject of a separate document (anti-spam legislation).
