If I am an active ACDQ member, am I absolutely required to join the ACDQ's prescription drug insurance plan administered by Sogemec Assurances?

As an active member, you are required under the Act respecting Prescription Drug Insurance to join the ACDQ’s prescription drug insurance plan administered by Sogemec Assurances, UNLESS:

  • You are already covered by a different private plan, as a spouse;
  • You are already covered by a different private plan, as an employee;
  • You are already covered by a group plan through your dental office;
  • You are aged 65 or older (in which case you can either keep your current private coverage and cancel your registration for the public plan – because the RAMQ automatically registers all 65-year-old citizens – or stay registered for the public plan).

You are also required to insure your spouse and dependent children who are not already covered by a plan.
