Practical Human Resource Management Guide

The Practical Human Resource Management Guide meets a need that many of you have expressed, that is to have a simple and user-friendly tool which covers the various facets of human resource management. It was designed for long-term use with a structure that makes it easy to update and add new themes.

It includes more than 50 topics divided into seven basic chapters:

• Dental office organization
• Asserting yourself as a manager
• Management and communication
• Hiring and terminating employment
• Training and professional development
• Total compensation
• Occupational health and safety

This guide is comprised of data sheets numbered and listed by subject. On each data sheet you will find situations illustrating concrete cases, brief explanations on the subject, actions to take in order to have the situation well under control, additional recommendations and pitfalls to avoid. Links to other sheets related to the subject are also included as well as additional references and resources for those interested in expanding their knowledge of a given subject.

In many cases, practical tools are attached to the sheet. They bear the same number, followed by a letter. They are given as examples and as a basis for your work. Feel free to make copies of them, or to change and adapt them to your specific needs.

A copy of the guide has been sent to each clinic including a member of the ACDQ. Please note that a dental office may not receive more copies than the number of ACDQ members working at it without paying the unit cost of $57.50, plus taxes.
